The supply chain industry is undergoing tremendous transformation, presenting enterprises with a large number of opportunities to use their supply chains as competitive differentiators.

Kuehne + Nagel Singapore created the KN Thought-leadership Programme with the objective of addressing this transformation we are all going through. Via this programme, we look to enlarge our current scope of discussions beyond the usual 3PL services; to identify potential areas of improvement within the end-to-end supply chain.

In March, we launched this programme with a Thought-leadership retreat with Dr. John Gattorna, when we discussed and shared cross-industry learnings with various senior practitioners across different industries on how to achieve greater alignment within.

Among the learnings shared by John and Deb, one of our favourite key takeways is this: our responsibilities as supply chain practitioners, like it or not, are much broader and the risks much higher. 60% of our supply chain is determined by the people in it, and how they make decisions. By thinking outside in, and by aligning our supply chain strategies and internal capabilities to customers, we can achieve greater “clockspeed” – the tempo of our business – so we can move faster and cope with volatility better.
