21 Nov 2017 | Capacity Shortage in Germany
We are currently experiencing continued strong demand for airfreight capacity in Germany.
From January until September 2017, Airfreight export from Germany has gone up by more than 15% as compared to same time last year, causing a series of backlogs in airfreight shipments. As a result, we remain in a capacity-deficit situation. In addition, the increased freight volume also resulted in corresponding bottlenecks in terms of personnel, equipment and handling on the part of the handling agents, as well as bottlenecks in pre-carriage to German airports where drivers are experiencing longer than usual waiting time for cargo unload at the airports.
In order to support our customers during this period, Kuehne + Nagel has made a number of full and part charter arrangements, as well as increased capacity arrangements at our gateways and hubs.
We therefore invite you to review your supply chain requirements with your Kuehne + Nagel representatives in finding capacity, alternative routing and planning solutions at the soonest. Should you also expect an increase in your freight volume, we would like to discuss this in a personal visit with you in order to find a solution as soon as possible.
In case of any further news we will keep you updated. For any questions, your known contact-persons remain at your disposal.
